So, last week was the final weigh-in for our family Biggest Loser Competition. Do you wanna know who won? The title of “Biggest Loser” goes to . . .
My little brother Brad!
Brad totally smoked us all. And, I think I must be getting older or more mature or something because I didn’t even throw a huge hissy fit when I lost! Although, I was second, so that’s not too bad. Can I get a chant of “I’m#2!” started?!?
I think the reason that I can’t be too upset that I lost is that we have seen real progress. We honestly did this because we wanted to change some of our unhealthy lifestyles. And, we have been successful at that. We changed the foods we eat. Our kids have changed the way they eat. Several of my kids now ask randomly if things are healthy before they eat them.
We have also been losing weight, which is an awesome perk! As of last week (before my birthday weekend binge), I had lost 20 pounds, and Jon has lost about 18 pounds. I’ll have to work off the cake this week! Our clothes are looser, and we just feel better about ourselves. In the first month, I lost 3 1/2 inches around my waist!
I think the part that I have been most proud of is that I have been working out consistently. Do you remember the Couch to 5K program I started back in July? After a two month hiatus, I picked it back up when we started the competition. This morning, I finished my last run. I went from not even being able to run 1 minute to running 30 straight minutes. I’m still pretty sure that the devil invented running, but I can do it without dying from lack of oxygen now. And, again, it has had a positive impact on my kids. Robbie asked me (again) this morning how old he has to be to work out at the gym.
We’re not done. The competition may be over, but Jon and I are just getting started. We’ve got a lot of work to do!
