Catch up time! At the beginning of June, thanks to my sweet husband, I was able to fly out to North Carolina to visit my little bro and his family for my nephew’s baptism. I had a great time! Since I didn’t take any of my kids, it was really the first time I got to just be an aunt. It was pretty cool.
First up, bright and early Saturday morning – Joseph’s baptism. He is such a good kid. As I sat and listened to him answer questions from the different speakers, I was so impressed by the depth of his knowledge. He must have some good parents or something. (But, shhh, don’t tell Jeff I said that!)
Saturday afternoon was spent at Jeff & Deb’s house. I saw their awesome garden, played Bionicle with Joseph, (I lost, but I think Joseph cheated!), watched Jeff read (apparently I am not as exciting as a book, pshaw), talked and talked and talked. That night, Debbi’s mom and I took the kids to dinner (and she only looked at me like I was crazy for a minute) while Jeff & Deb went out. Then they came home and we watched TV and just hung out.
Sunday, we went to church. I got to sit with Spencer, and that was fun. He was way better than any of my kids ever are at church. I think my favorite memory of the day, though, was sitting with Jeff in Sunday School. We began by singing a song about the Savior – a very reverent song, I might add. At one point, there was a high note, and Jeff didn’t quite hit it. It was pretty bad. Of course, then I started giggling, and Jeff joined in. We were totally irreverant. We calmed down, but when that note came on the next verse, we just started laughing again. Yeah, I’m pretty juvenile around my siblings. What can I say? They bring out the best in me. 🙂
After church, we just hung out. I took a nap. Jeff made yummy pork. It has some German sounding name, but I don’t remember it – mostly because I’m not German. We played Monopoly that night, and I lost. Like really lost. But I think it’s because Jeff cheated . . . maybe that’s where Joseph got it! Nah, I just happened to land on Boardwalk with 3 houses on it the FIRST TWO TIMES AROUND THE BOARD! I have all the luck.
Monday morning, it was back home REALLY early. I think I got up at 2:45 Texas time in order to get ready and get to the airport. It was so nice to be able to visit my brother and his family. They have done such an amazing job with their little family. I loved getting to know my nieces and nephews better. They are really cool kids. Thanks for letting me come visit! Love you guys!
