It’s 2:38 in the A.M. I need to be sleeping. I have a million things to get done in the next two days, and it would be really nice if I wasn’t exhausted. The problem? I have a stupid toothache. I took some Exedrin PM to help with the pain and to help me sleep. The pain part worked for a couple hours. The PM part is still working. Do you have any idea what it’s like to not be able to sleep because of pain, but keep having your eyes close involuntarily? Arrrrgggghhh! (On the positive side, I have time to actually read everyone’s blog and comment. You’re welcome!)
. . . Unless you happen to be playing catcher. And a kid happens to be running home. And someone throws you the ball. And it misses and hits your face.Sadly, this is a smile. After he got hit, Robbie was pouring blood and crying. It took him about 20 minutes to calm down, but he toughed it out and went back out to play. It was really sweet because all the parents and kids cheered for him when he went back out.Unfortunately, he had a double header and in the middle of the game, we noticed that one of his teeth was out of line and he was bleeding. So we ended up making an emergency trip to the dentist at 6:30. Thankfully, the nerve wasn’t broken, so they splinted the tooth up. Yeah, I didn’t know what that meant. But they basically put a giant cement bandaid over the front three teeth to hold the loose one in place until it can heal. As you can see, his upper lip is pretty swollen, and his gums on the inside are a mess. And do you remember how I said I love our new baseball league? The coach AND his wife came over and totally helped Robbie. They got towels to stop the blood, and ice to put on it. He even got some ice pops to suck on to help with the pain. When we left, the coach’s wife gave me her cell phone number so we could call and let them know how Robbie was. It was so sweet!Thank heavens everything is okay, and he didn’t lose a tooth! And besides, he now has a great story to tell everyone tomorrow at church!
Jon here…I know, I know…this hasn’t happened in probably a year. And within that year, the posts have been about the Mavericks. I know, I’m horrible. But, I want to communicate more with family and friends. There’s no reason that I shouldn’t do that. What a wonderful time this past weekend was! I treasure the time that I get to spend with my wonderful wife and amazing children. They blow me away…literally! There are many things that I enjoy about the weekend. First, I love listening to the words of the Lord’s anointed servants. It’s as if they are speaking to me individually. That’s a good feeling. It helps me focus for the next 6 months and put priority in my life where it should be.Next, I love getting our children excited about it. They really enjoy doing the booklets and they are learning their names. Emily prayed for the First Presidency by name the other night…all three of them! How proud I was of that. We set up a tent in the gameroom just like King Benjamin’s people did in Mosiah 2. We made sure that the tent door was facing the TV. We did a Family Home Morning on Sunday teaching the kids of why we did it. They loved it! Thanks for the good example Jeff and Debbi!Lastly, I love sitting next to my wife and, at times, looking over to see tears in her eyes. It makes me wonder why I don’t have tears in my eyes! Anyways, I love Conference weekend. Here are some pictures of the fun times.[photopress:Egg_Stuff.jpg,thumb,centered]My personal favorite food on Conference!
