So, we have this recurring problem at our house. See, no matter what I make for dinner (unless it comes from McDonalds), the kids will invariably say “I don’t like that!” It doesn’t matter if they’ve eaten it before and liked it. They don’t like anything I make for dinner.Well, I am getting a little tired of making dinner that no one likes, so last night Jon was trying to get the point across that it hurts my feelings when the kids say they don’t like what I make. And what better way to do that than an analogy? It went something like this:JON: Do you guys like to draw pictures for Mom and Dad?KIDS: Yeah!JON: Well, we like it when you draw us pictures. How do you think you would feel if you drew us a picture of a horse, and then we said we didn’t like it?KIDS: That would make us sad. JON: That’s right. Well, everyday Mommy spends a lot of time making dinner just for you. How you do think it makes her feel when you say you don’t like what she makes? KIDS: Sad!At this point, I am thinking the whole exercise has been a success. They obviously got the point. Until Adam chimes up. Apparently, analogies are too advanced for a 3 year old. All he said was, “Daddy, we don’t eat horses for dinner. That would be yucky.” So all Adam heard was “horse” and “dinner”. Ah, one of those bright moments in parenting! I’m glad we’re succeeding. Hey, at least Adam knows we don’t eat horses!
Jon here… It’s been a while since I’ve given everybody a Mavs update. Here goes:
|· 2006-07 Power Rankings: Week 8|
|RANK (LAST WK)||TEAM||REC.||COMMENT|
|1 (1)||Suns||17-6||Just a hunch, but I’m guessing no one will protest too loudly about Suns retaining the No. 1 spot for a second successive week. Not even from Salt Lake City.|
|2 (2)||Spurs||19-6||Spurs aren’t just rolling. They’re cruising, with Duncan having topped 20 points just three times in December while averaging a mere 12.6 FGA per game this month.|
|3 (4)||Jazz||18-6||It so easily could (and should) have been a 4-0 week, but it’s tough to quibble after a home rout of Dallas, two road wins and with AK-47 still not averaging 10 ppg.|
|4 (3)||Mavericks||17-7||The good news: Howard has averaged 19.6 ppg over the last 10 games. The bad news: Mavs’ offense still isn’t running smoothly, so Nowitzki needs more help.|
This is just the latest power rankings from ESPN. They’re 18-7 after their win over the Kings last night. I know nobody cares, but I DO!!! Enjoy!
Hey all! Okay, I’ve been a slacker and haven’t posted. Now, I have way too much to post. So, I took the easy way out and made a slide show for y’all! I can’t make it look pretty, but hopefully it still works! Enjoy!
Tonight was our ward Christmas Party. You know what that means . . . SANTA! Of course, Santa looked a little familiar again this year. Hmmm . . . Anyway, here are some pictures of the kids and Santa! [photopress:100_4733.jpg,full,centered]Robbie recognized Santa immediately! It was hard to make him not tell everyone else! [photopress:100_4743.jpg,full,centered]Emily was scared of Santa, even when I told her who it was. She finally was comfortable once Santa told her the banana/orange knock knock joke. (Ya know, “Orange you gald I didn’t say banana.” The kids LOVE that joke!) [photopress:100_4732.jpg,full,centered]Adam was actually one of the first kids to sit on Santa’s lap. He wasn’t scared, but he wasn’t extremely happy either![photopress:100_4740.jpg,full,centered]Kelsey was so excited that she just slept through her first visit to Santa! Enjoy!
